Tinnitus: Spread the Word
It’s Tinnitus Awareness Week. What I think we need to focus upon is that while tinnitus has no cure, there is a solution. If you’ve been reading this blog on a regular basis – as well as the stories of some of our patients and providers on our home page – you’ve read that many members of the medical community routinely dismiss tinnitus as a chronic condition with no hope for relief.
This week is a perfect time to debunk that notion! The best way to do it is to share the message with your friends, colleagues and family members that there are solutions that can help alleviate ringing in the ears.
The American Tinnitus Association (ATA) is doing its job to spread the word this week. Each day, the association will issue a news release on different issues affecting the tinnitus community. From underfunding of tinnitus research to the work in helping military vets suffering from tinnitus, the ATA is investing itself in a media campaign to raise awareness. We agree that this is the right approach.
Visit the ATA’s website at www.ata.org for resources you can use to get the word out the word on tinnitus. And as you read through the ATA materials, keep in mind that some of the most effective methods for silencing the ringing in the ears are made by Neuromonics. The Oasis, the Sanctuary and the Haven have all proved to minimize the debilitating effects of tinnitus for patients.
Whatever you do this week, just remember that spreading the word about tinnitus is the best weapon we all have to combating this chronic condition.
